Elder Class

20th July 2017

We would like to say goodbye and good luck to all of our Year 6 children who are leaving us to move on to secondary school.

Many thanks to Harry's mum who made us this fantastic cake to share on the final day.

Here are our Head Boy, Deputy Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl delivering their final worship at the Worton site.  They have been mature and responsible leaders in our school and we have all enjoyed their assemblies.
The following photos are from our Pocahontas week in June.  We made clay pots, used our senses to taste new foods and took part in a modern pentathlon at Lavington School.  All of these were related to learning about Pocahontas and her life.

Saturday 24th of June 2017

We are the winners!  Today at the Dauntsey's Cricket tournament we had a wonderful morning of cricket - both the A and B team won every single one of their matches!

Not only that, but we were also the overall winning school and here we are triumphantly showing the much coveted trophy!

Thursday 15th June 2017

Today was the Devizes and Calne kwik cricket competition at the Devizes Cricket Club.  Below are our team who won the competition!  Needless to say, they played some excellent cricket, getting better and better in each match.

Now, they have qualified for the County Finals on the 3rd of July!

As part of our Mayan theme we created Dance sequences in groups.

Tuesday 14th of March - trip to the Cheddar Chocolate Factory

What a dream of a trip - visiting a chocolate factory will certainly be a favourite trip for many of us.  Mr Sweet showed us how to make chocolate, and we had a go ourselves! We got to try samples of chocolate and even take our chocolate home!

We learnt so much about chocolate but a bit different from Mr Wonka's factory in our class text (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) which is the basis for our learning this term.

2nd of March 2017 - World Book Day

Look at our amazing costumes as we have come dressed as a character from a book we love.  In these photos we are enjoying books and using clues to answer a quiz.

Our girl's football team were in action again after qualifying for the Mid-Wilts finals at Stanley Park in Chippenham.

We were undefeated in all four matches, and have qualified for the Wiltshire County finals!  This is fantastic and hugely exciting for all of us.

Father Christmas makes a special trip to our school to reward all our hard-working children.  Here we are all receiving a little something to keep us going until Christmas day.

We also had the excitement of our Christmas parties, and had played games, and enjoyed some party food!

December 2016

In this photo is just some of the cast of our fabulous play 'Merry Christmas Mr Scrooge' which we performed in Christ Church in Worton.

This photos shows our 'A' team and their medals at the Dauntsey's hockey tournament.

Monday 14th November 2016

Today we learnt what it was like to be a child at school in the Victorian times.  We had to line up and have our hands inspected for cleanliness before we could enter school.  We learnt to write on slates, and recite times tables.

For part of the morning boys and girls completed separate activities.  The boys worked outside in the gardens, and the girls made a lavender bag.

As you can see we are all dressed as Victorians, and we even took an authentic Victorian lunch.  It was a superb trip and we learnt so much!

On Wednesday 19th of October we entered two teams in the Devizes Football tournament.  It was the first time we had enough girls keen to play football, so we could enter a team. They played brilliantly, and were runners-up.  This means they progress to county finals in December.

The boys also played some excellent football, finishing very respectably mid-table.

4.10.16 Trip to the Living Rainforest

Today, as part of our Rain Forest topic, we visited the Living Rainforest near Newbury and saw lots of plants and animals which live in the Rainforests. We also had a tour and talk about sustainability and threats to the Rainforest. We learnt that the cocoa beans from one  tree  only produces  two big bars of chocolate and that too many banana plants cause soil erosion which can contaminate the rivers. We had a great day even though it was very hot and humid in the greenhouses.

This afternoon we had a very special visit - the Chief Constable of Wiltshire.  Eleanor from Hazel Class invited him to our school, and he accepted!

We learnt about keeping safe, and had a great time seeing how the police motorbikes and cars function.
