Week 1 - Today, Graham a local bee keeper came into school to share lots of information about bees. The children learnt about queen bees, worker bees, how bees make honey and how honey is collected from the hive. The children were able to try honey and they tested out the smoker.
Term 4 - Fairytales
Week 2 - Pancake day! We learnt about the importance of shrove Tuesday and lent. We then made pancakes and wrote instructions and shopping lists.
Week 2 - Today, the children searched for mini beasts. They collected them, then we discussed their habitats, their appearance, what they eat and how they protect themselves from predators. Then, we put the mini beasts back carefully where we found them.
Term 3 - Under the Sea
24.01.19 - As we are learning about healthy eating, the children made a salad today. They had a budget of £1, and they had to decide which items they wanted to buy. They helped to grate and chop their salad and then they enjoyed eating it!
23.01.19 - Today, some of the children from gymnastics club went to Devizes school to compete in a gymnastics competition against four other schools. Five Lanes won the year 1 and 2 competition and the year 5 and 6 competition. Well done to everybody who participated!
Beech class have been learning about healthy eating. They have been making and preparing their own fruit salads.
22.01.19 - Today, we went to the Bristol Aquarium. We had a fantastic day out and the children learnt lots of facts about the under the sea creatures.
Today the children were set a challenge - to build a boat out of junk modelling materials. They had to include a sail and their boat had to float. They quickly realised that they could not use any materials with holes in.
Week 6 - messy outdoor play
Week 5 - We made Biscuits for the Christmas concert
Week 3 - We enjoyed an Autumn welly walk!
Week 3 - The children have been learning about Diwali. On Wednesday morning we had a Diwali day. We created Rangoli patterns in maths, learnt an Indian dance and Mrs Morse came in and gave the children henna tattoos.
Week 3 - The children had a workshop from Doctor Maryhan, an anxiety specialist. The children were taught strategies to help them when they are feeling nervous.
Week 3 - The children had a fire safety talk from the Dorset and Wiltshire fire and rescue service. They were taught how to keep themselves safe around the house and how to stop, drop and roll in an emergency. The fire officer spoke to the children about the importance of knowing their address and postcode in case there was ever an emergency.
Week 2 - The children made poppies to represent the soldiers, animals and peace at last in World War 1.
Week 2 - The children have been using crocodile signs to compare their number sentences.
Week 7 - We have enjoyed using our construction area in lots of ways including making puddles to splash in!
Week 6 - Look at our new construction area! A huge thank you to Mr Brown and Mrs Brown for delivering the pea shingle. A big thank you to Mrs Park for abetting the tyres. The children loved helping out and watching it fall from the truck. It is a fantastic addition to our outdoor area!
Week 4 - Beech class have been learning how to keep safe online and who they can go to if something upsets them. The children have been creating online safety posters

Week 1 - We had a visit from our vicar Ali. She taught us all about our theme trust. She brought in her new dog Trulie to show us that she couldn't quite trust her puppy yet, but soon she would be able to.
